Ramsay Dunning

CEO, Co-Operative Energy

Co-operative energy have been buying locally-sourced energy for some time, selling it to nearby residents so that communities can benefit from power which is generated from within. They have a target to source 75% of their energy from renewables and are one of the most prominent alternatives to the big 6. It goes without saying that they are part of The Co-Operative Group which was founded in 1844 and is mutually-owned by its members. Ramsay will argue for the proposition that energy should be locally-owned and will speak about some of the work the Co-Op have done to encourage people to buy energy generated nearby, he will also argue for the co-operative model as the future of utility ownership in the exciting debate: The future of the UK’s energy system is local – discuss!
